There's no doubt that Epic Games has already included a wide range of weaponry for players to use in its free-to-play title, Fortnite Battle Royale, but it looks as if the video game developer is preparing to expand the armory yet again with a new gun. As a matter of fact, the studio recently decided to tease the inclusion of an Infantry Rifle for players to pick up and wield in the hybrid construction shooter.

According to an update shared through Fortnite Battle Royale's in-game news feed, the game is set to receive the Infantry Rifle "soon", and per the firearm's description, it has a "classic design" that will meet a "new combat style". While there's no telling just how it will operate in the title just yet, it appears as though the Infantry Rifle has taken its design inspirations from the real-life M1 Garand, which was a gun prominently used by the United States during World War II.

The forthcoming inclusion of the Infantry Rifle has many speculating that Epic Games will choose to tuck the Hunting Rifle away in the Vault once the M1 Garand-esque weapon makes its way into Fortnite Battle Royale. Of course, should this occur, this wouldn't be the first instance of the developer deciding to put a gun to pasture for a certain amount of time, as the company Vaulted four different weapons not too long ago.

There's no telling exactly when the Infantry Rifle will become available, but considering the cyclical way in which fresh content is announced and then released in the game, it could come as soon as tomorrow. Until then, Fortnite Battle Royale fans still have plenty of weapons to choose from in the multiplayer survival shooter that will help them get the job done and move them one step closer toward securing a Victory Royale.

Fortnite is available now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
