One of Fortnite's latest Epic quests comes from an NPC named Sunny, and it requires players to hunt an infected animal. What does this mean exactly? Well, players need to kill one of the animals on the island --be it a chicken, boar, or wolf-- while it is being infected by one of the Alien Parasites that have come into the game for Season 7.

These parasites can attach themselves to the wild creatures, as well as players. These parasites may seem pretty terrible at first since they drain players' health while it is attached, but they do provide a boost to players. The parasites will provide Fortnite players protection from headshot damage, and they will also make players run faster and jump higher.

How to Hunt an Infected Animal in Fortnite

To find one of these infected animals, there are many different locations that players can look. Any animal on the map can be infected, so heading to any good spawn locations for chickens, wolves, or boars is a great move. For the sake of this guide, it'll show players a location full of chickens, which is the area just outside of Pleasant Park's east entrance/exit. Players will find wild animals, and players can tell if they're infected by the blue/purple-colored parasite stuck on its body.

Players can either shoot the animal with a gun or use their melee weapon. It's worth noting that once the parasite gets detached from the creature, it'll jump onto the player if they're close enough. Unless players want to lose their health in exchange for extra mobility, it's best to stay away from the animal, hunting it from a distance.

How to Take off Parasite

If players find themselves with the quest completed but still have the parasite attached to them, there are a few methods to remove it. The easiest thing to do is to jump into a body of water. The parasite will immediately detach itself from the player when it gets wet. The parasite is also not a fan of fire or gunfire, so if a player jumps into a campfire or gets attacked by opponents, the parasite could detach.

Chicken Locations

Since chickens are some of the most common wildlife found on the Fortnite map, players can use this image to track them down if they're not having luck finding an infected one.
