Fortnite is once again rolling out a fresh batch of quests this week, tasking players with completing various tasks and challenges around the island in exchange for large chunks of XP. One of the latest quests requires players to find and destroy different types of cactus plants, which can only be found in certain areas on the island.

Epic Games' popular free-to-play battle royale title is roughly at the halfway point of its inaugural Chapter 3 season. The current Fortnite season has seen a whole host of changes like an entirely new map, which features new fauna and flora such as the aptly named Timber Pines. However, this quest focuses on cacti, which have been around for much longer.

How to Destroy Different Types Of Cactus Plants in Fortnite

The verbiage of this quest is pretty straightforward, but players will need to know the specific places where they can easily find different types of cactus plants. Players must destroy a total of three different types of cacti, all of which can be found in Fortnite's southern desert region. A particularly good place to find all of them close to each other is just northeast of Haven's Oasis, the named location found in the desert's west end. Fortnite's cactus plants appear to have three variants: a blue-green one topped with a flower, a stereotypical tall saguaro-like, and short, shrub-like ones.

Given that Fortnite's cacti are essentially exclusive to the desert biome, the region is bound to become an early elimination wasteland. However, a newly-released item may help keep players alive. Starting today, players will have access to the Pizza Party item. The unique item is literally a full Slurpshroom pizza which, when thrown down, contains eight slices that simultaneously recover 25 health and shields. Players can carry up to two slices per slot, and can fully restore health, while getting shields to 50.

While Fortnite's selection of quests has a decent amount of variance, a new hire on its development team may really refresh the challenges. Last week, following his departure from Blizzard, Johnny Cash announced his role as the lead quest designer for Fortnite. For those unaware, Cash was previously the lead quest designer for World of Warcraft, developing things like WoW's Pet Battle mini-game system. With such a high-caliber talent on the team, Fortnite's quests are potentially about to get even more interesting.

Players who destroy enough types of cacti should be rewarded with Chapter 3 Season 1's usual reward of 25,000 XP. With a potential redesign of how Fortnite's quests work now in the pipeline, another fan has created a clever locker redesign concept, which is already gaining traction online with fans.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
