Fortnite’s chapter two launched earlier today, and with it comes a plethora of new features. Since there haven’t been any official patch notes so far, players are discovering new features and mechanics on their own. However, Epic Games did release a trailer that showed off some new features, which also include a whole new set of water gameplay. Fortnite's water gameplay includes fishing, swimming, motorboats, and more, according to the official announcement.

The second chapter of Fortnite has brought the swimming mechanic with it, which allows players to swim freely in any body of water around the map. Players can also fish for loot and ride motorboats across the rivers, but the swimming mechanics sound more exciting for returning players as it’s the first time players will be able to swim freely in the game. Those who haven’t checked out the new features may be wondering how difficult it is to swim in Fortnite; fortunately, swimming in the game is extremely easy. Just hopping into any body of water will allow players to swim, with no extra gear or piece required at all.

How to Swim in Fortnite

The new map in Fortnite has more than enough river locations where players can try out their hand at swimming. It’s important to note that it’s possible to shoot while swimming, so always be ready to shoot any enemies that might be swimming as well.

When it comes to swimming, there aren’t any tricky controls to worry about. Holding down the sprint button will ensure that players are always in the swimming animation while hitting the jump button will give players a boost during swimming. Aiming and shooting in the water is the same as doing so on land. Ultimately, it seems Fortnite's black hole has added as much as it has taken.

Of course, players don’t have to swim all the time; there are boats available in the river that will also allow players to get across the map via the river. The boats have multiple seats, so multiple players can ride the vehicle at the same time. They also have built-in weaponry which can come in handy when taking on enemies in the water. Jumping in the water is also a great way to dodge enemy fire, so players can also use swimming as a defensive retreat when overwhelmed by enemies. The official Fortnite chapter 2 trailer shows off more new features and locations.

Fortnite is out now for mobile devices, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
