Fortnite: Hit an Opponent While Wolfscent is Active
The first step toward completing this quest is to get a pair of Howler Claws, a special item that is available during Fortnite's Fortnitemares 2022 event. In order to obtain this item, fans must dance on an Alteration Alter, which can be found near Chromejam Junction, Cloudy Condos, Flutter Barn, Lustrous Lagoon, the Reality Tree, Shimmer Shrine, and Shiny Sound. For full clarity, the precise positions of the Alteration Alters have been marked on the map that is below, and any dance is suitable.
With a pair of Howler Claws equipped, players should look for an opponent and activate Wolfscent when one is found. Activating this ability is as simple as pressing the aim input, which is indicated on the left side of the screen, and it makes it possible for Fortnite players to temporarily track nearby foes. All that is left to do once a fan is under the effects of Wolfscent is to strike an opponent with the Howler Claws before the ability goes on cooldown.
To note, if a player uses Wolfscent when there are no opponents in their vicinity, the ability will immediately go on cooldown. This makes Wolfscent a useful tool for locating adversaries, as it is easy to know when there is one nearby. That said, opponents that are being tracked by Wolfscent will receive an audio cue that makes them aware of this fact, giving them the opportunity to prepare to defend themselves with their Fortnite weapons or attempt to escape.
One final thing to mention is that some players are reportedly encountering an issue that prevents them from receiving credit for hitting an opponent with the Howler Claws while Wolfscent is active. Unfortunately, there is no known workaround for this issue at the time of writing, and fans may need to make several attempts at completing this quest before the job is done. Fortnite's Halloween event is scheduled to continue until November 1, though, giving players a significant amount of time to do just that.
