Fortnite seems incredibly simple to people who are unfamiliar with it, but once they dive in, they see just how mechanically dense this game is. At a glance, Fortnite looks like it's a game about getting guns and shooting other players to win, simple as that. But when actually playing Fortnite, people discover that the game has much more to offer.

This game's features include intricate hunting and fishing system, destructible terrain, tons of vehicles, collectibles around the map, NPCs, and a thousand other gimmicky systems. The recent Vibin' Update has only added more features. In fact, there's some new content that players might have missed, such as the features below.

7 Slurp Bouncer Mushrooms Heal When Bounced On

Fortnite - Staring At A Lit-Up Slurp Mushroom

Among all the colorful things added in this update, the Fortnite Map seems to be dealing with a Fungi infection of some sort — Slurp Mushrooms, to be precise. They're all around Greasy Grove as well as Reality Falls (near the Reality Tree). Players can climb on them, find chests on them, and use them as cover.

In addition, there are also smaller "bounce-pad" Mushrooms all across the map. Most players just use them as a way of quickly getting to the top of nearby structures, but because they have Slurp in them, they also heal a small amount if players bounce on them while "lit up." Players can tell when they're ready to be used by the bright blue glow seen at the crown of the mushroom.

6 Keep Reality Saplings At Legendary

Fortnite - Picking Legendary Fruit From A Reality Sapling

The Reality Sapling Fruit system has changed the meta a bit in Fortnite, as players are dropping at their Saplings and starting each game with Epic to Legendary-tier Guns every time. There's actually a level above Legendary called "Mythic," but this level only produces one Fruit, and if it isn't a gun it's a bit of a waste. Plus, once the Mythic Fruit has been harvested, the tree resets to Uncommon and players have to build it up again.

But if players don't weed their tree while it's at Legendary, it won't upgrade to Mythic, meaning they can just keep harvesting the Legendary fruits. Of course, this doesn't stop other players from weeding their tree as well, so it's not a surefire method.

5 How To Use Weeds To Get Double The Fruit

Fortnite - Picking The Weeds Around A Reality Sapling

Once a Sapling is ready to go from one rarity tier to the next (for example, from Uncommon to Rare), it needs to be "Weeded" to ascend. While it may seem like common sense to weed to Sapling before picking the fruit so they upgrade to the next tier, it's unexpectedly better to Weed after harvesting.

With this method, the player gets all the gear from the lower tier, and then once they've picked the Weeds, the Fruit of the next Rarity instantly grows on the tree. This allows them to pick six Fruits from one Sapling rather than three, which is also great for grinding XP.

4 Regrowing Fruit With Chug Splashes & Shield Sprinklers

Fortnite - Using Chug Splashes To Replenish A Reality Sapling Fruit

The last tip related to the new Reality Saplings, players can actually use Chug Splashes to regrow their fruit/ Not many people seem to know about this one yet, but it does make sense. Any containers that have the lightning blue Slurp Juice in them (including the Bouncy Mushrooms) heal players for whatever they need most, Health or Shield.

Maybe the fact that Chug Splashes regrow Reality Fruits has to do with that, maybe it's a cheeky nod to the movie Idiocracy and the fact that they use Sports Drinks to water their plants, or maybe it's just a neat coincidence. Either way, it takes about four Chug Splashes to regrow an entire Sapling, so a Shield Sprinkler would be a much more efficient option.

3 Yoshi-Jumping The Boars Or Wolf Mounts

Fortnite - Jumping Off A Trained Boar For Extra Height

Fans have been requesting mounts for a long time, and they're finally here. Players can now find Wolves and Boars around the map that, when jumped on, are rideable. It's the most efficient way for a solo player who dropped in Reality Falls to get across the map (other than maybe a Whiplash). The AI for the animals isn't bad either.

There's also a neat little trick some players have been grabbing mounts exclusively for, and that's the Dismount feature. Players can launch themselves off their Mount mid-air, similar to how Mario does with Yoshi in any of the Super Mario games. When this is done, the player gets a pretty good amount of height, which makes it a great tool for chasing down enemy players who are on nearby rooftops, etc.

2 Loot Sharks Eat Items

Fortnite - Fighting A Shark For The Loot It Ate

Technically, Loot Sharks aren't something new added in the Season 3 Chapter 3 update. Rather, they were added in Chapter 2 Season 3 before getting Vaulted in Patch 16.00. That said, they're back now, just like Geysers are, and there's an aspect of these creatures that many players might not know about.

Looting in Battle Royale games is integral to the core gameplay loop and the speed at which players drop, enter a building, and loot is pretty important. More often than not, players tend to grab what they need and leave a lot behind, which can actually end up giving gear to opponents following them. There's no direct way to destroy items in Fortnite, but if a player is near a body of water and can see a Loot Shark, it might be worth chucking the items they don't want into the water. Loot Sharks like to eat items near them, and are rarely ever killed because of their massive HP pool. This makes them an effective way of trashing unused items.

1 Storm Sickness & How It Works

Fortnite - Storm Sickness Warning Overlaid On Image Of Character At Storm Border

Storm Sickness is a new mechanic added in Season 3 Chapter 3 that has one core purpose: to stop Storm Campers. Storm Camping is a pretty big problem in Fortnite. A lot of people just ride out the Storm, constantly healing themselves until almost everyone in the circle kills each other, and then they head back in to try and go for the win. It's a legitimate strategy, but it's a bit cowardly. Storm Sickness is supposed to discourage this. This debuff triggers on players who stay in the Storm, too long and constantly drains their health by 15 a tick until they die.

Storm Sickness is a bit too lenient in its current state. It takes five to seven minutes for the warnings to even pop up, and then an additional minute or two for the debuff to actually apply. Thankfully, it seems that the countdown towards Storm Sickness stays even when a player leaves the storm, turning back on if they head back out into the purple zone. Once someone has Storm Sickness, they can't get rid of it until the game is over.
