Thanks to dataminers, Fortnite players have known for some time that helicopters would soon be added to the game. Now Epic Games has officially announced that Fortnite helicopters are indeed coming in the form of a new vehicle called the Choppa, which can be used by up to five players at a time. Fans should be able to try them out later today.
The new Fortnite helicopter vehicle was shown in a new trailer that confirms one person can fly it while transporting up to four other teammates. The helicopter itself does not appear to have any weapons attached to it, but players can still shoot at enemies from it using their own weapons. It will be interesting to see if this makes the Fortnite helicopter less controversial than the planes that were in the game some time ago, or if fans will still complain about it.
The trailer also features Deadpool quite heavily, which could be a sign that players will earn the Deadpool skin sooner rather than later. For the uninitiated, this season of Fortnite has seen players take on extra Deadpool challenges each week, with the ultimate prize assumed to be a skin of the popular comic book character himself. If so, it's possible that the Deadpool Week 5 challenges could be the last, but that remains to be seen.
Fortnite helicopters are part of the new update that's rolling out to various platforms throughout the day. It's definitely the headlining feature, but Fortnite players that download the update will also enjoy bug fixes and the like.
Later in the week should be a bit more exciting, as Fortnite adds new regular challenges on Thursdays, and new Deadpool challenges on Fridays. It will be interesting to see if the Fortnite helicopters are used in the challenges because if so, that is a virtual guarantee that they will remain part of the game throughout the rest of the season. After all, vaulting them would keep some players from completing challenges and make it more difficult to finish up their Battle Pass.
We'll have a better idea of the Fortnite helicopter longevity when the new challenges go live later this week. In the meantime, fans should keep an eye out for more big changes as Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 rolls along.
