With Halloween right around the corner, many video games are hosting in-game events to celebrate the season. Often, these festivities come with many new ghoulish cosmetics for players to collect, along with ghostly changes to maps and modes. One game that’s no stranger to getting into the spooky mood for Halloween is Fortnite. The game has featured an annual Fortnitemares event for years, and it looks to go even bigger this time around.

Fortnite recently kicked off the 2021 version of Fortnitemares. This new Halloween event for the battle royale looks to add lots of seasonal content, including new Quests that can earn players “eerie rewards.” According to Epic Games, a Halloween story connected to the iconic Cube, featured in past seasons, is coming this month as well. In addition to this story, a number of new Halloween-themed skins are available for purchase throughout the event.

While many fans come to expect new skins to arrive in the Item Shop on a regular basis, Fortnitemares appears to be adding some impressive additions to the long list of Fortnite crossover skins. Among the skins revealed for the event include iconic Halloween movie characters such as Frankenstein’s Monster and The Mummy. In addition to these classic Halloween monsters, costumes designed around trick-or-treating and jack-o-lanterns are coming. The developers noted that skins from previous Fortnitemare events would be returning to the Item Shop as well.

Some other features scheduled for the month include the Short Nite film festival during the final week of the event. The developers noted that the short films showed during the festival “will be based on the ghoulish and sinister.” In addition, new Halloween-themed maps, games, and experiences are now available for players to check out. As part of the “Fortnitemares” section in the playlist menu, this collection of modes features content made by the community during the Fortnitemares Callout. Furthermore, the developers plan to keep players updated on upcoming Fortnite news through regular blog posts on the Epic Games website as Halloween-themed content is scheduled to release over the entire month.

Fortnite isn’t the only battle royale planning to host Halloween-themed events this year. Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone have events coming later this month as well. New leaks suggest that Apex Legends is bringing back a version of the Fight or Fright event. Based on these leaks, many new monster-related skins appear to be featured. Furthermore, Warzone announced that shortly after the launch of Season 6, the battle royale would be hosting The Haunting event.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
