Epic Games has released details about this year's Fortnitemares event. Running from Oct. 21 through to Nov. 3, Fortnitemares 2020: Midas' Revenge allows players to take part in a number of Halloween themed events while collecting horror-themed items.

The developer shared how Fortnite players can vanquish Challenges, hang out at a party, or tour the Ghoulish Isles during the special event. Fortnitemares 2020: Midas' Revenge sees Midas return to the game after his apparent death. He is joined by his reawakened Henchmen, and together they have taken over what was once The Agency. The game will see players "follow in their phantom footsteps" across the Island.

If eliminated in Solo, Duos, or Squads, gamers can return to battle as a Shadow in a Nitemare Royale. Fortnite players can team up with fellow Shadows to take on survivors, utilizing "otherworldly abilities," such as possessing vehicles, as they clash.

Fortnitemares 2020 items include a Pumpkin Rocket Launcher, a Fiend Hunter Crossbow, a Witch's Broom, and a new invention created by Midas. In keeping with the theme, Epic Games noted how the Shadows were kind enough to even bring candy to the occasion. By completing new Challenges within Fortnitemares 2020, players can unlock even more special rewards, including Midas' Shadow Wrap, the Smash O'-Lantern Pickaxe, Bobo Back Bling, and even more. The items earned through a playthrough will stay with gamers, with the developers promising that they can "Be seasonally-appropriate or stay scary year-round."

The Fortnitemares 2020 event has also booked another in-game concert, following in the footsteps of past digital concerts from the likes of Travis Scott, Anderson Paak, and more. Raggaeton Global ambassador and four-time Latin GRAMMY winner J Balvin will be joining the event for the Afterlife Party. The performer will be providing a "special performance" of Latin culture and hip-hop and will even give Fortnite gamers the exclusive chance to listen to the debut of his new song ft. Sech!. Fans interested in joining in and checking out the performance can do so on Oct. 31 at 9 PM ET (6 PM PT).

With dressing up being a huge component of the spooky season, Fortnitemares 2020: Midas' Revenge unsurprisingly encourages a bevy of costume choices. The new Party Trooper Outfit is already available in the Item Shop from now until Nov. 1. As an extra incentive to pick up the outfit, Epic Games has revealed that all Party Trooper Outfit owners that attend any of the Afterlife Party events in Fortnite will also unlock the "exclusive J Balvin Style."

During Fortnitemares 2020 run, which Epic Games no doubt hopes will re-engage some fans, Fortnite Creative will feature four "Fortnitemares-inspired featured islands." Each island will contain buried digits comprising a mysterious code. If players can discover all of the digits across these four islands, which combine to 20 total digits, players can unearth the Wrath's Wrath Wrap. The first island will be available to explore later on Oct. 21. If gamers can gather the completed code, they are encouraged to redeem their code and add Wrath's Wrath Wrap to their Locker before it expires on Oct. 27.

Not all of Fortnitemares 2020 events take place in-game, however. Epic Games has also provided a plethora of papercraft cosplay and figures for fans to create at home, all of which are available until Nov. 3, and has encouraged gamers to participate in a Fornitemares cosplay to show off their papercraft creations using the #MyFortnitemares.

Fortnite is available for mobile devices, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions in development.
