For fans of the Call of Duty franchise, the words “Gun Game” should ring a bell. This game mode consists of all players dropping into the game with only a pistol, and unlocking better guns with each kill. Although nothing is confirmed, it appears Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, may be interested in adding the mode to Battle Royale.

One Reddit user suggested adding the game mode to the popular game and many fans seemed to think the addition of Gun Game to Fortnite could add a new dynamic to the experience as a Limited Time Mode. Then, one of the game’s devs, who goes by DustyDevo on Reddit, from Epic Games chimed in on the conversation.

“It’s totally on the list to try a progressive weapon load out LTM at some point. Would probably bring in the storm early to keep everyone together, flip on respawns so the game reliably ends when someone makes it through the weapon ladder.”

The devs responding to this suggestion and even thinking it could work in-game shows that Fortnite is ever-evolving and that the devs listen to player suggestions on how to make the game better and more fun. With this being said, there would have to be some changes to the typical Fortnite game formula to make Gun Game work.

There would have to be respawns and the storm would either have to be nonexistent or slow moving for a "Gun Game" mode to work. Fortnite would also have to replace the "last man standing" victory spot with the player who made a kill using every gun in the mode.

Considering all of the changes that would have to be made to make this game mode work, it will likely take some time for Epic to implement the mode if at all. But, it does seem likely, as the aforementioned dev posed the question of, “What do you guys think, gold scar down to pistols, or weaker weapons up to strong? I think an argument could be made for either way being interesting...” Players can still join the conversation, as the Reddit thread is going strong with fellow Fortnite players chiming in with their suggestions for the possible game mode.

Either way, Epic Games seems to regularly ask players to join in on the discussion of what to add to Fortnite and this is no exception. Epic loves to hear from players about what they think about Fortnite and what they could do to make the game more enjoyable. Players, in return, give Fortnite an even larger monthly online player average than GTA V, making Fortnite even more successful and popular by the day.

Fortnite is available now for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
