Yesterday, Epic Games and People Can Fly revealed that Fortnite would soon be receiving a new weapon in the form of a guided missile. The prospect of a rocket that players could control was intriguing, but Epic did not say exactly how the guided missile would work. Now the developers are ready to show off the guided missile, and it looks like another crazy weapon that will lead to some highlight-reel clips.

In the trailer below, gamers can see the guided missile in action, at least cinematically. It appears that Fortnite players will be able to manipulate the trajectory of the missile, which will almost certainly change the way some players fight; after all, no one wants to die while the missile is in the air. Gamers may also need to be consistently looking over their shoulder for an incoming missile.

The trailer focuses on the missile as it goes through a house and out one of the windows after a specific target. While some players may have thought the weapon would work by focusing on an area, it definitely seems like the trajectory is manipulated by the player. Upon reaching and thereby killing the target, two players begin to dance. Check out the official guided missile teaser trailer below:

Needless to say, the guided missile is eye-catching and may take player's rocket riding antics to a new level. One thing that could make it cooler, however, is if players were able to customize their own guided missile launcher, an option Fortnite fan recently presented a very detailed gun customization concept. Of course, only time will tell if Epic Games and People Can Fly will make this a feature in the game, but it would likely be a well-received move.

Nevertheless, the guided missile may very well be a popular addition to the battle royale title. Speaking of the game's ever-increasing popularity, Fortnite recently broke another record on YouTube for the “most videos related to a video game uploaded in a single month EVER.” Of course, it seems that this new weapon and any new weapons added in the future will only help the popularity of Fortnite, which remains a powerhouse in the gaming industry.

Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS devices, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
