Despite being in Fortnite for only a month, the guided rocket launcher is being removed from the game following close supervision of player feedback. There is currently no indication as to when the weapon will return to the game.

Since the guided rocket launcher hit Fortnite last month, fans have posed concerns that the rocket makes endgame encounters too easy, as players can simply guide the rocket from a safe location to win the match. Epic Games decided to remove the weapon to rebalance it to better fit the game as a whole.

The announcement came in the form of a Reddit post by Epic Games on Tuesday. Alongside the announcement of the guided rocket being removed, Epic Games also noted that they have implemented changes to weapon equip times to address the weapon swap issues that the game is currently plagued with.

Fans are divided over the inclusion of equip times, some say it goes a long way to fixing the reign of double shotguns in the game. More die-hard players pose the argument that the update lowers the skill gap and caters too much to casual players. Even popular Fortnite streamer Ninja weighed in on the update, saying that it is “not the greatest” since nothing was broken.

Fortnite fans are also taking to Reddit about another topic, the ongoing mystery of the comets in the game’s skybox. Today, players reportedly saw many more comets and meteors in the sky – significantly more than usual. Players believe that the comet will ultimately destroy Tilted Towers, a popular location in the game.

It is clear that Epic Games listens to fan feedback regarding new features implemented in the game. The guided missile caused quite a stir, and hopefully Epic Games will retool it to be more balanced in a future update.

Fortnite is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
