Virtually every single gamer at least knows about Fortnite, and anyone who knows about Fortnite knows the title has become synonymous with adding characters from outside IP. This signature trend carries on as after several leaks and rumors, Spider-Man's Green Goblin is gliding in as the latest Marvel crossover skin.

The immensely popular free-to-play battle royale title from Epic Games is currently about midway through its first season of Chapter 3. The new season features a brand-new island, as well as a Battle Pass featuring Spider-Man. While the web-slinger's skin is proving to be a favorite among fans, Spider-Man's exclusive Emote is drawing criticism for giving players an unfair advantage.

Detailed in a blog post on Fortnite's official website, Green Goblin is coming to the island because of a tip-off from The Daily Bugle regarding Spider-Man's whereabouts. This version of Green Goblin is his purple and green comic book form, rather than Willem Dafoe's take in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Green Goblin comes with an array of themed accessories, like the Pumpkin Bomb Back Bling, Pumpkin P'axe, Goblin Glider, and the Arm the Pumpkin! Emote. Despite all the pumpkin theming, the Pumpkin Launcher unfortunately remains vaulted, which would certainly be a perfect match.

The addition of Green Goblin as a skin comes a bit contrary to the initial rumors about the nature of the character in Fortnite. A few weeks ago, notable Fortnite leaker and dataminer HYPEX suggested Epic was adding Mary-Jane Watson and Green Goblin as NPCs, all located around The Daily Bugle. Mary-Jane is supposed to be hanging around The Daily Bugle, selling Spider-Man's Web Shooter with unlimited web fluid. Details were scarce about the supposed Green Goblin NPC, with the leak hinting at a potential third Spider-Man character, though their identity remains a mystery.

While players will surely see plenty of Norman Osborn's villainous alter-ego in the coming days, Green Goblin isn't the only Marvel character to have recently been added to Fortnite. Last week, Clint Barton and Kate Bishop from the Disney+ series Hawkeye were added to the game. The expert archer duo appears as they do at the end of the series, clothed in their purple and black "superhero outfits." The standout addition of the Hawkeye content isn't so much the skins, but rather the Aerial Archer Glider, which acts as a giant windsurfing bow.

The Green Goblin skin joins an ever-growing list of comic book Fortnite tie-ins. At this rate, Fortnite may even get roped in to Marvel or DC's cinematic universes.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
