A few months ago, Epic Games revealed that a gifting feature would be added to Fortnite in the near future. While the announcement was initially made in June, a new leak has suggested that the publisher may soon be making good on this promise.

A Twitter user by the name of Jaren has uploaded a video detailing how the upcoming Fortnite gifting feature works. While it was first thought that the video featured a staging version of the game, Jaren later clarified that it was the live version with the gifting feature simply turned on. With the elements of the gifting system already being available in the game’s code, some have suggested that Epic Games may be planning to release it to the public as soon as the next major update.

The short video showcases how Fortnite fans will be able to use this new gifting system, which allows players to gift multiple friends at once. It is also possible to attach a personalized message to the gift before sending it. Then, it should also be noted that players will only be able to gift the same person every 10 days.

While the video has revealed the above-mentioned facts about the new feature, there are still a few questions about it that have been raised. Some such questions pertain to whether players will only be able to gift newly purchased items (as displayed in the video) or items players already own too. The video also does not reveal whether there will be an overall cap regarding how many gifts a player can send and receive to the same person.

A gifting feature is an interesting and much-appreciated addition to Fortnite as players will now be able to share new items with their friends, making the game an even more sociable experience than it already was. With the season of giving coming up soon, some players may even find this to be one of the game’s most worthwhile new functions.

Fortnite is out now in early access for iOS, Android, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
