Fortnite continues to double down on its crossover content, with the latest addition to the game coming directly from the G.I. Joe universe. The consistently popular silent ninja Snake Eyes has been made available in the game, and his crossover goes a bit further than some other additions.
For players interested in grabbing a new Fortnite skin, Snake Eyes can now be purchased in the Item Shop for 1,800 V-bucks. The hero’s bundle comes with some special back bling that allows him to wear his katana as he fights on the island. A katana pickaxe is also included in the bundle, letting the armored ninja make use of his signature blade. However, while seeing Snake Eyes in the game is cool as is, the reveal that he will be getting an action figure based on his Fortnite design is even more intriguing.
While the figure will not release until January of next year, it boasts plenty of detail for fans to appreciate when it does finally ship. Aside from including Snake Eyes’ sword, the figure comes with several weapons pulled directly from the Fortnite universe. Fortnite fans can make Snake Eyes throw Boogie Bombs, wield a Mythic Shockwave Launcher, use a Clinger, and fire a Harpoon Launcher both inside and outside of the game. A Submachine Gun and Chiller Grenade will also be included with the figure.
Priced at $40 and having movable arms and legs like other high-quality action figures, this Fortnite item could be great for collectors and casual fans alike. This is not the first time Fortnite has released action figures, though it is the first time that Epic Games has worked directly with the toy company Hasbro — a move that makes sense given the company’s ownership of the G.I. Joe brand. Fortunately, it looks like the figure will please both G.I. Joe fans and Fortnite fans when it arrives in 2022.
With a Snake Eyes movie in development as well, this collaboration with Fortnite comes at a perfect time. While the G.I. Joe franchise has dabbled with gaming in the past, this is by far the most high-profile video game-related appearance of the legendary action figure series. With Fortnite’s incredible popularity, this partnership serves as a smart advertisement for G.I. Joe products — while also managing to make Epic Games’ Zero Point crossover event even more special through the addition of another familiar face.
While players may not be seeing Snake Eyes in Mortal Kombat anytime soon, this Fortnite crossover should still make G.I. Joe fans happy. With the additional ability to play with the Fortnite version of the character outside of the game later next year, this is certainly one of the battle royale’s most in-depth cameos.
