Three years after his limited-time mode in Fortnite, Thanos from the Marvel universe is returning to the battle royale game. The supervillain prominently featured in 2019's Avengers Endgame will be available in the item shop for the first time on June 26, 2021, starting at 8 PM ET. However, there is a way to get the Thanos outfit and the Infinity Gauntlet Back Bling a little bit early, and for the low price of $0.
How to Get Thanos Skin Early in Fortnite
By participating in Fortnite's Thanos Cup, players will have the opportunity to earn the Thanos outfit early. The Thanos Cup kicks off on Monday, June 21, and players will need to play in the 'Duos' mode, which is when gamers are put into a team of two versus other teams. Players and their partners will need to compete in up to 10 total matches in 3 hours to earn as many points as they possibly can. Once all of the points are tallied, the top-performing teams in each region will get the free Thanos skin and the Back Bling.
Even if players don't end up being one of the top-performing teams, they can still snag some neat Thanos watches by earning 8 points during the event. It's worth noting that these prizes, including the Thanos costume itself, might take a few days before players actually see the reward in-game. And to even participate in the Cup, Fortnite players must have an Epic Account at level 30, and two-factor authentication will need to be enabled.
The Infinity Gauntlet Back Bling will have all of the Infinity Stones attached to it. Still, players won't be able to eradicate half of the human race with this glove, as it's just for show, like the other accessories and skins that Fortnite has to offer players. Either way, donning the Thanos skin will certainly scare away other players during a match, even if it doesn't have any special powers.
If players do not have a decent Duos partner to team up with during the Thanos Cup event, they can always wait until he pops up in the item shop later in the month and purchase him just like any other skin.
