Last year around this time, Epic Games' popular battle royale game Fortnite launched its special Fortnitemares Halloween event, which included a number of appropriately-themed cosmetics, as well as monsters that players had to contend with in the middle of matches. Now Fortnitemares 2019 has been announced, and it will go live in the battle royale game very soon.

It's been confirmed by Epic Games that the Fortnite Fortnitemares 2019 event will go live on October 29 at 9am ET, so just some odd hours from the time of this writing. What's unclear at this point, however, is exactly all Fortnitemares 2019 will entail. For example, we don't know if the monsters will be coming back this year or if there will be some other kind of limited-time mode to celebrate Halloween instead. We do know that the event will bring with it plenty of cosmetics, though.

Epic Games has been using its the Fortnite Twitter account to reveal new Fortnitemares cosmetics, some of which have already been made available in the battle royale game. As to be expected, the Fortnitemares 2019 cosmetics include skins, wraps, emotes, and more. This year, Fortnite players with the right amount of V-Bucks can even snag a zombie emote for themselves while it's still available in the shop.

Most of the Fortnite Fortnitemares 2019 cosmetics seem to be available only through purchasing them in the store with V-Bucks. However, it's entirely possible that some of them will be unlockable through gameplay. Typically, Epic celebrates its seasonal Fortnite events with limited-time modes or special challenges that players can complete in order to get some exclusive rewards. We imagine that Epic will do something similar this year, though nothing specific has been announced just yet.

If the Fortnite Fortnitemares 2019 event includes some of its own challenges, these challenges will be joining the other challenges that are part of the Battle Pass. The latest set of challenges are the Fortnite Forged in Slurp challenges, which task players with dancing at certain landmarks, eliminating opponents at Retail Row, and more.

This coming Thursday, another set of Fortnite challenges will unlock, which will presumably be separate from the Fortnitemares challenges. Needless to say, fans of the battle royale game will have plenty on their plate this week.

Fortnite is out now for iOS, Android, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
