There are a lot of skins in Fortnite. In just three-and-a-half years, the game now has more skins than there are Pokemon, despite the latter being around for a quarter of a decade. This is largely due to Epic Games releasing new skins on a continuous basis.

That being said, it's only natural that some skins will be forgotten. To add salt to the wound, Epic typically will no longer offer skins in the item shop if they sold poorly, and because of this, many of these skins only appeared once or twice before seemingly being retconned from existence entirely.

10 Wild Gunner

Fortnite Wild Gunner

One surefire way to get forgotten is to have an incredibly bland design. That didn't stop Epic from releasing yet another reskinned default skin.

Wild Gunner is a reskin of Brite Blaster, who in turn happens to be a reskin of Brite Gunner. While Brite Gunner might be remembered for being a companion skin to Brite Bomber, barely anyone will remember Wild Gunner, as he is literally a default skin with a slightly spruced-up look.

9 Shore Leave

Fortnite Shore Leave

Another skin that suffers from an uninteresting design is Shore Leave. Releasing during the water-themed Chapter 2 Season 3, Shore Leave is by no means a bad choice for players who prefer a clean skin with no distracting features or bulky armor.

However, if an unintrusive and simple skin is what players are looking for, the soccer skins do that better and are iconic as "sweat skins" who have persisted throughout the game's various seasons, bringing a dash of infamy that very few other skins can match.

8 Depth Dealer

Fortnite Depth Dealer

Intended to be the male counterpart of the Wavebreaker skin, the Chapter 2 Season 1 starter pack skin, most people likely did not buy Depth Dealer because they already owned a very similar skin.

This, combined with the fact that most competitive players prefer using female skins for their slimmer build (allowing them to see slightly more in their view), has led to relatively few people willing to commit and purchase this skin.

7 Flatfoot

Fortnite Flatfoot

Flatfoot was released around the 2019 Christmas season and seemed to be an odd choice, considering Fortnite typically releases Christmas-themed cosmetics around this time. But when taken into consideration that Flatfoot is likely a reference to Die Hard (whose status as a Christmas movie has been hotly debated for years) it makes somewhat more sense.

Unfortunately, the skin itself is uninteresting. It didn't help that Epic Games released a very similar-looking skin, Maya, in the following Chapter 2 Season 2 battle pass.

6 Renegade Shadow

Fortnite Renegade Shadow

Released during the end of Chapter 2 Season 2, Renegade Shadow was characterized as an infiltrator and double agent of The Agency.

The skin was a pretty good value, giving players a large assortment of styles to choose from, including both Shadow and Ghost factions. Despite this, the skin isn't remembered by most, likely due to not having a particularly unique design or motif.

5 Synth

Fortnite Synth

While most of the skins covered so far have become forgotten because of their generic design, Synth suffers from the opposite fate: looking so gaudy and unfashionable that few even dared considered to purchase him.

It's hard to make heads or tails of what exactly he is supposed to be, too. While most skins in Fortnite have a clear motif, Synth looks just like a dude with a questionable taste in fashion, or possibly an attempt at making a parody superhero.

4 Rue

Fortnite Rue

Released during the spy-themed Chapter 2 Season 2, Rue, for all intents and purposes, was supposed to be based on a spy. Unfortunately, that didn't prevent players from making...certain historical comparisons, from the overall outfit aesthetic to the prominent symbol on her shoulder.

At this point, it seems like Rue has been retconned from existence, and likely will not make a return appearance any time soon, if at all.

3 Trench Trawler

Fortnite Trench Trawler

One of the weirdest-looking skins to ever be released in Fortnite (and that's actually saying a lot), Trench Trawler looks like he's about to have his day ruined by four meddling kids and a talking dog. He was released during Chapter 2 Season 3 to match the season's sea theme.

Despite looking like someone who's eager to go to the latest Scooby-Doo obscure villains convention, relatively few people bought this skin, even as a joke purchase.

2 Wake Rider

Fortnite Wake Rider Poll

Out of all of these forgotten skins, Wake Rider has one of the cruelest fates: not even being officially released.

Wake Rider appeared briefly during the first season of Chapter 2 as a choice for an experimental item shop poll. The skin that got the most votes would appear in the item shop shortly afterwards. Unfortunately, Wake Rider lost the poll, and was promptly forgotten by players and even Epic Games themselves; it's currently unknown if this skin will ever see the light of day.

1 Bull Shark

Fortnite Bull Shark

What could be worse than being officially revealed but never released? Being overshadowed by a tremendously more popular skin.

Bull Shark was released just one day before the famous Twitch streamer Ninja got his own skin. Due to the unfortunate timing, almost no one bought Bull Shark, and consequently, it was never seen in the item shop again. Because of this, Bull Shark is considered to be one of the most forgotten and rarest skins in Fortnite.
