There's no doubt that Fortnite Battle Royale Season 8 has been given a lot of new content for players to experience, with new map changes, a fresh vehicle, the new Flint-Knock Pistol, and more. Now, the video game developer Epic Games has decided to bring even more materials for fans of the free-to-play multiplayer shooter to try out, with the studio adding a new Limited Time Mode (LTM) called "Floor is Lava".

This much has been revealed by way of Fortnite Battle Royale's in-game news feed, with Epic teasing that players who take on the LTM will need to "get to high ground or build above the lava that's overtaking the island". There's no telling exactly how the mode will work, but the description makes it sound as if lava will be taking the place of Fortnite's ever-encroaching storm circle in the LTM. As of now, the mode is being teased as "coming soon".

It has long been speculated that Fortnite Battle Royale would eventually include a Floor is Lava LTM. As it so happens, Epic has stated in the past that it has had plans to incorporate more conceptual Fortnite Limited Time Modes like this one for a while, and it even mentioned Floor is Lava as being a possibility.

The inclusion of Fortnite Battle Royale's Floor is Lava LTM actually makes sense contextually, as Fortnite added a volcano to the map at the beginning of Season 8. With this being the case, it will be interesting to see how or if Epic intends on using other environmental elements as inspiration for more new modes in the future.

All things considered, Fortnite Battle Royale's Floor is Lava LTM is simply the latest example of Epic Games continuing to frequently conjure up as much fresh content as possible in order to keep players engaged with the free-to-play title. It seems to be working in many regards, as Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney recently revealed that Fortnite's player count is close to crossing 250 million.

Fortnite is available now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
