Fortnite has received its latest update, v17.21, this week. Epic Games has added a brand-new weapon into the mix that can cause some serious damage. The Plasma Cannon was created by the IO using Alien technology, so, of course, Fortnite players will want to know where it can be found and how it's used.
The Plasma Cannon only has five ammo, but each shot creates a slow-moving sphere that travels a great distance, destroying most structures instantly. It's a great way to reveal hidden opponents in a building or just for breaking down locations to find chests and other useful items. Once the weapon has been used five times, it'll automatically be discarded --players won't be able to find ammo for it lying around on the ground like other types.
Plasma Cannon Locations in Fortnite Season 7
Fortnite's Plasma Cannon can be found in normal chests as well as IO chests. This essentially means that players will have to have some good luck to obtain it since there's no surefire way to find one. However, some methods might make the process of finding one a bit easier.
The Mothership
Added in a few weeks ago, there are abductors (large UFOs) scattered about the map now. If players stand underneath the abductor at the beginning of a match, they will eventually be abducted and transported to the mothership to participate in a low-gravity loot dungeon mini-game of sorts. The goal of this game is to collect these yellow orbs that drop from the sky. Once players grab five of them, they'll be taken to a room with lots of chests that contain rare items; however, players will only have a few seconds to scour through the chests, making it somewhat stressful.
It's not guaranteed, but players have a good chance of finding the Plasma Cannon in one of these chests, or at least Alien Nanites, which can be used to craft a Plasma Cannon, so long as players have a Legendary Pistol.
IO Base
After players drop off the Fortnite battle bus, they will notice certain locations that have large satellite dishes with a glowing red light. These are IO bases, and these bases usually contain an IO chest or two, which have a high chance of holding Plasma Cannons inside them. These IO chests are also home to the IO tech weapons added in Season 7, such as the Recon Scanner.
Normal Chests
By just looting normal chests organically during a Fortnite match, players can also find the Plasma Cannon, but it'll definitely be harder to find than the other methods.
