Earlier this year, Fortnite received an update that added the Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mode, which featured none other than the Mad Titan himself, Thanos, dishing out damage to all comers on the free-to-play Battle Royale title's map. Now, it looks as if the highly popular LTM could be making its way back into the game, as new files potentially suggest that players may be able to wield the iconic Marvel artifact once more.
As seen in the first tweet below, a leaker has found new files in Fortnite Battle Royale's Update 7.01 patch released today which make reference to an interactive item by using the keywords “Gauntlet Pickup Derez” and “Gauntlet Pickup Fading”. What's more is that the second tweet further below shows that there are audio game files using the term "Carmine", which is a word Epic Games has used in the past to allude to the Infinity Gauntlet LTM.
Of course, it's worth noting that since Epic Games has yet to officially declare as much, these game files are simply being used for the sake of speculation in regards to the potential return of the Thanos-centric Infinity Gauntlet mode. After all, an argument could be made that the studio might be working on incorporating its own non-Marvel variant of the crossover LTM without Thanos so as to make it a mainstay Fortnite mode.
At any rate, we will simply have to wait and find out if Epic is planning on bringing back Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet mode to Fortnite, as the developer has yet to openly comment on the matter. The previous iteration of the LTM was released in conjunction with the theatrical debut of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War, and with its sequel, Endgame, set to hit the big screen in April 2019, it would make the most sense for Epic to bring back Thanos next summer. Until then, though, fans can give the latest OP item–that is, the Infinity Blade–a go in the game.
Fortnite is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
