Fortnite isn't exactly a game grounded in realism. From giant anthropomorphic bananas, to constant emote dancing, to crossing over with just about every franchise under the sun, the free-to-play title is a colorful, fictional world. However, not only is a real-life car company now collaborating with Fortnite, it's putting its latest and greatest vehicle into the game.

First introduced during Fortnite's Season 3 nearly a year ago, drivable cars have been a mainstay feature since their promotion from being another material harvesting source. The past couple of seasons haven't focused too much on transportation, adding only the flyable Saucer at the beginning of the current one.

Teased and then confirmed via Twitter, Fortnite is planning to introduce the Ferrari 296 GTB to the game on Thursday, July 22. The official Fortnite handle originally teased an image with no caption, which is a close-up of the side of the Italian supercar, featuring Ferrari's iconic horse logo. Upon closer inspection, viewers will notice the reflection on the supercar's signature red paint job, which upon closer inspection is undoubtedly the Battle Bus. The 296 GTB's tires also feature the game's title. A re-tweet of the image by the official Ferrari account itself confirms the initial tease, stating the vehicle will indeed be coming to Fortnite.

Epic Games mysteriously vaulted the blazingly fast red John Wick just days ago, with the addition of the new Ferrari model the obvious reason as to why. However, one question that still remains unanswered in regards to Fortnite's vehicles is the complete lack of new vehicle mods. During Season 6, it was leaked that several new vehicle mods were soon coming to the game. A dataminer had found files related to a front bumper "Scoop" and a rear bumper "Mega Booster," both of which have yet to make it in-game. Although, considering the 296 GTB features 830 horsepower, goes 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds, and tops out at 205mph, that booster sounds pretty unnecessary.

Fortnite and Ferrari's partnership is an unexpected one, but its actually not the first battle royale title to pair with a high-end car manufacturer. PUBG: New State, the new mobile title aimed at giving players a refreshed, future-tinged take on the original PUBG, dropped a trailer a few weeks ago, and features a McLaren supercar. PUBG Mobile has actually had famous McLaren models featured in-game since the beginning of June, putting it ahead of Fortnite in that respect.

While it's unclear exactly what the Ferrari 296 GTB's stats are or where it will spawn, its pretty safe to say it'll be the fastest and most popular land vehicle to ever be in the game. Its speed is sure to frustrate a few players too, but at least it isn't the derided "The Baller."

Fortnite is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
