Epic Games' battle royale Fortnite continues to surprise its fans with the amount of crossover skins released during Chapter 2, Season 5: "Zero Point." Ryu and Chun-Li from Street Fighter joined Fortnite recently in the footsteps of video game icons such as Halo's Master Chief and God of War's Kratos, and there are rumors that Peter Griffin from the Fox animated sitcom Family Guy may be added soon. However, the active playerbase brought in by these crossovers has noticed bugs, and Epic Games says a fix is in development for one such issue.
Following the introduction of Season 5 Week 12 challenges, which ask Fortnite players to visit Scenic Spot, Gorgeous Gorge, and Mount Kay alongside other tasks, GamesRadar reports that a number of players have encountered a bug preventing teams of two from playing more than one match together if they are using split-screen. For example, Reddit user Dwwtae posted about the issue to the r/FortNiteBR subreddit on February 17, saying the only solution they could find was closing and relaunching the game.
Given other players have echoed the same sentiment, including a GamesRadar staffer, the publication reached out to Epic Games for a statement. A representative said it is "actively tracking this issue" and testing a fix. The Epic Games spokesperson said the issue is only affecting a small subset of Fortnite players, but that an update will be provided once it's resolved.
As with most live-service titles, Fortnite is no stranger to bugs and glitches. A skin based on Predator added last month was glitched, for example, giving players the potential to turn invisible indefinitely. Trouble re-entering matches while playing with split-screen isn't game breaking in the same way, but it's certainly an annoying issue for people playing with their friends or family.
The popular battle royale is frequently susceptible to hackers as well as bugs. According to a recent study by Surfshark, Fortnite is the video game with the most hackers based on YouTube hits for hacking-related videos, beating out its next-place competition Overwatch by nearly three times.
Though issues with bugs and hackers are likely to remain as Fortnite continues adding new content over time, Epic Games revealing its intent to actively quash those problems should be comforting for fans. The developer probably has a number of additional skins planned, and a recent fan theory suggests Kevin the Cube may return, so there is a lot to watch out for in Fortnite.
