Yesterday, Epic Games and People Can Fly officially opened iOS Invite Event signups for the popular multiplayer sandbox survival title Fortnite Battle Royale, with so many fans flocking to sign up that it actually caused the site to crash for several hours. With such a huge amount of players vying to be selected in this lottery-like scenario, the companies have now put forth a notice that there have yet to be any mobile invites sent out just yet, so fans will need to be wary of any "false" mobile links being sent to them.

In order to drive this announcement home, the official Fortnite Twitter account has gone so far as to remind fans of the official URLs that are associated with the game – that is, "Fortnite.com" and "Epicgames.com" – so that they can make sure they're not giving their information away to an unknown entity. What's more is that Epic Games urges fans not to give any of their account details to any third-party sites in search of “free” V-Bucks or in-game items.

As of now, there's no telling exactly when Epic Games and People Can Fly will send out the official download links for Fortnite's iOS Invite Event, but the company has previously intimated that it should be some time this week. Until then, fans can get a gander at Fortnite Battle Royale's first iOS gameplay trailer to get an idea of how it will play on Apple devices. Unfortunately for Android fans, though, they won't be given the chance to play on the mobile devices of their choice until later this year.

Taking everything into consideration, it's good to see Epic Games taking the time to give fans a heads up when it comes to any potentially fraudulent links being sent to players, as it could lead to some very stressful situations as extreme as identity theft. Hopefully, though, players will remain alert to such scenarios and Epic will send out the official invites sooner rather than later.

Fortnite is available now in early access on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
