Launched back in April 2020, Fortnite's Party Royale mode is a place for players to socialize without weapons, and it is a frequent site for in-game concerts and activities. ESPN and developer Epic Games have now announced yet another of these Party Royale activities, and it will give players a chance to watch an ESPN 8: The Ocho marathon, which will focus on presenting footage of a variety of "unconventional sports," together from within Fortnite's social space.

Starting on Saturday, August 8 at 9am EDT and ending at 1:45pm EDT, the ESPN 8: The Ocho event in Fortnite's Party Royale mode celebrates four years of this unique special, which was inspired by the 2004 comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and has appeared on ESPNU, ESPN2, and ESPN. It will be rebroadcast from 4pm to 8:45pm EDT, and some of what fans can expect to see during the marathon has already been outlined.

Indeed, Fortnite players that jump into Party Royale this Saturday will have the chance to enjoy some of the 2020 Johnsonville ACL Cornhole Championships and the 2019 Death Diving World Championship. Additionally, the marathon will feature the Stupid Robot Fighting League, Spikeball College Championship, and Golden Tee World Championship, all from 2019, as well as the 2018 Classic Tetris World Championship. While this is undoubtedly quite a lot of sports content to watch, ESPN 8: The Ocho programming will also be available on the ESPN app for those fans that want even more of it.

To note, this is not the only activity coming to Party Royale in the immediate future, as there is also something scheduled for Friday, August 7, the day before the ESPN 8 marathon detailed here. More specifically, players can see a new music video from Japanese musician Kenshi Yonezu in Party Royale if they join the game mode at 7am, 1pm, or 7pm EDT on Friday, and this may be of interest to those fans that enjoyed Diplo Presents: Higher Ground, a musical performance that occurred in Party Royale less than one week ago.

Much like Diplo Presents: Higher Ground, the premiere of Yonezu's video has an associated cosmetic item for players to earn, which can be done simply by playing Fortnite between Thursday, August 6 at 8pm EDT and Friday, August 7 at 8pm EDT. This time around the cosmetic is a special banner, and fans should have little trouble claiming it before they start watching some unique sports during the ESPN 8: The Ocho marathon taking place this weekend.

Fortnite is available now Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
