Every match in Fortnite Battle Royale is a competition by default; players compete to be the last player (or players, if they're in a team) standing, using their skill and knowledge of the game and the map in order to get a Victory Royale. But some players like to take this competitive spirit a little bit further. They play Fortnite with the goal of setting records, proving themselves the best player at the game overall, not just in any given match.

Two players who may well have earned the title of best Fortnite Battle Royale duo are Ninja and KingRichard. After setting the record for most kills in a duos match last month, the famed Fortnite duo is back at it again, beating their own record by securing even more impressive kills.

Chronicled during Ninja's Twitch livestream, the duo managed to get 40 kills in total. Ninja secured 27 kills of his own, while KingRichard secured 13 kills, making that 40 kills altogether. The final kill of the duos match (and the one that secured them the Victory Royale) can be seen in the Twitch clip above. Ninja deftly crafts a wooden staircase and as he barrels down it at full speed, he fires two quick shotgun blasts, downing his opponent and capping off a thrilling match.

The Fortnite Battle Royale community is currently going through the footage, trying to take notes on how they too can rack up this many kills in a match and take on the record for themselves. Fans note that Ninja and KingRichard purposefully try to land in highly populated areas, ensuring that they will encounter players to kill (though this often results in early defeats even for these talented players).

Moreover, the double pump shotgun method also helps players like Ninja to secure kills quickly, as seen in the Twitch clip above. Fans have asked Fortnite developer Epic Games to patch it out; the team has other bugs and technical issues it needs to fix but double pump is so effective that players say it needs to be addressed soon.

Ninja, in particular, is incredibly competitive and the player made headlines earlier this week for his hilarious missed attempt at setting a kill record (in a different Fortnite discipline). It means that the famed Fortnite duo will probably be attempting to beat its newest duos record as well, so fingers crossed that they manage to do it.

Fortnite Battle Royale is available for free on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
