It's always been a reliable rule in online games that fixing one problem (or adding a new feature or item) creates another issue and that seems to still hold true even for Fortnite (though not as often as in Pokemon GO). The game is still in early access, but Fortnite devs have been doing a fantastic job frequently patching the product and making buffs and nerfs as needed. Unfortunately, one exploit that was previously fixed seems to be reintroduced with the addition of the Heavy Shotgun weapon.

Just about a month ago, the meta was full of players wielding two pump shotguns, because swapping back and forth between them could help avoid the pump reload time and allow for insanely fast and powerful burst damage. The meta quickly became too flooded with this strategy and Epic resolved the issue by nerfing the pump shotguns. The fix seemed to balance out the overall meta for at least a few weeks, but that may not be the case for long.

The Heavy Shotgun item was added to the game earlier this week and players are already realizing that dual wielding two of the new weapons can lead to a very similar result as the previous pump shotgun strategy. Take a look at this streamer, KingRichard, testing out the damage output...

So far, players still seem to just be testing out the strategy and it hasn't completely overtaken the meta. It will be interesting to monitor the situation as it develops throughout the week and see just how popular the new strategy becomes.

If the dual Heavy Shotguns trick catches on, fans can expect Epic to react with another nerf in the near future. Hopefully the company won't remove the weapon and will just opt to decrease its damage output to make the exploit less appealing.

Until then, make sure to test it while you can and see what you think. Good luck!

Fortnite is available now in early access on iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
