After talking to Raven and starting the Dark Skies questline in Fortnite, players will be instructed to destroy Sideways Rocks. In total, fans must demolish two of those objects in order to complete the task at hand, and they can be found in some very particular locations. Detailing those locations is the precise purpose of this guide, and Fortnite players that read on should have no trouble completing this brand new challenge.

Fortnite: Where to Find Sideways Rocks

Unsurprisingly, the Sideways Rocks that are to be destroyed for the quest are found inside of the Sideways, a special area that has played a big role in Fortnite Season 8. There are a couple of ways to access this area, and the first is to visit the large orange and purple circle that appears on the map at the beginning of a match. Indeed, that circle designates a Sideways area, and there are numerous rocky formations within it.

The other option is to locate a Sideways encounter, and these initially appear on Fortnite’s map as purple crystals. Upon approaching one of the crystals, fans will see a small Sideways area expand in front of them, and indeed there are rocks to be found inside. Notably, these encounters are typically not as contested as the larger Sideways areas, where many players like to start their matches, and that makes them good places to complete the challenge in relative peace.

Fortnite: How to Destroy Sideways Rocks

After entering the Sideways in Fortnite, players should wander around in the area until they locate a large rock formation with purple crystals embedded into it. This is what is considered a Sideways Rock, and fans should dust off their favorite harvesting tools and hit it until it is destroyed. When that is done, players should repeat this process with another Sideways Rock to complete the challenge and earn their 30,000 XP reward.

This challenge is certainly not the only new opportunity to earn XP, though, as there are still four more Dark Skies quests to take on. There is also a new questline that can be initiated by speaking with Nitehare, a Fortnite Season 8 NPC that can be found at the FN Radio landmark to the east of Craggy Cliffs. This questline will also send players to the Sideways at one point, and those that have read this guide should be very clear one exactly how that is done.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
