With Fortnite and Destiny 2 being two of the biggest shooter games of 2017, it makes sense for the titles' user bases to have some overlap, especially with both of the releases putting their own unique spin on the genre. However, Epic Games and People Can Fly seem determined to sway any Guardians frustrated with the current state of Destiny 2–which seem to be many–with a well-placed ad for Fortnite that takes a harsh jab at the developer Bungie.

As seen in the image below, the Fortnite ad in question is placed directly at the top of Destiny 2's official subreddit, promoting the battle royale title as being one that has "a dev team that talks to you." For those unaware, this is a direct shot at Bungie's lack of transparency with the D2 community following a litany of controversies that have cropped up since the launch of the first-person shooter.

One of the most recent and prevalent complaints to have arisen from Destiny 2's community involves microtransactions, as the game's forums have been flooded with posts to remove the Eververse–the shooter's marketplace wherein Guardians can spend real-world cash for in-game items. D2 fans are still awaiting a clear response from Bungie after many openly criticized the company for putting a huge portion of the game's loot in the microtransaction system. As of yet, though, players have only received a vague nod that the feedback has been received.

Taking all of this into account, while Fortnite's ad at the top of Destiny 2's subreddit might be considered too savage by some, it's ultimately savvy. After all, Epic Games and People Can Fly have deliberately spent money to advertise the battle royale title as an alternative to Bungie's looter shooter, and there's no better way to get a Guardian's attention than to promise open communication between players and the dev team, as well as free content.

Fortnite is available now in early access on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with its full launch occurring at some point in 2018. Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
