Fortnite introduces new challenges for players to complete each week, earning additional experience toward their Battle Pass and helping to unlock all manner of skins, items, and rewards. A recent challenge tasks players with dealing damage to opponents with a crossbow. Cupid's Crossbow is an Epic weapon introduced to the game for the Hearts Wild Valentine's event.
The first step in this challenge is to get a crossbow. They can spawn similarly to other weapons in the game and can appear as ground loot spawns, in chests, and from supply drops. Rare chests will have a higher chance to spawn the weapon than regular chests, but it seems to be a regular ground loot spawn in most of Fortnite's named locations.
Cupid's Crossbow will do 68 damage, has a fire rate of 0.9, a magazine size of 5, and a reload time of 2.5. It doesn't damage structures, so don't expect this to be an excellent option for forcing other players out of their boxes, regardless of the building material. The bolt itself has a travel time and an arc similar to sniper rifles, but the weapon is silent and gives very little feedback when fired. The bolt is also hard for players to track on the screen when it is in flight, so it can take a little practice to get used to the weapon.
To complete the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 Week 11 Legendary Quest, players will need to do the following amounts of damage to opponents:
- 1000 Damage - 55,000 XP
- 2000 Damage - 22,000 XP
- 3000 Damage - 22,000 XP
- 4000 Damage - 22,000 XP
- 5000 Damage - 22,000 XP
The wording of the quest is also interesting, as despite it saying players need to deal damage to opponents, damage done to IO Guards will also count. This gives players an easier way to get all the damage they need than bringing the Cupid's Crossbow into gunfights against Shotguns and Assault Rifles. If players need to take on other people and wish to use the crossbow, distance is the great equalizer. After a little practice with the crossbow, players should be able to land a shot at long range before enemies realize where they are, then follow up with a finishing blow. A headshot will one-shot-kill an unshielded opponent thanks to the damage multiplier, but players will need to land two headshots to quickly take out a fully shielded enemy.
Unfortunately, while IO Guards and other players count towards the accumulated damage needed to finish the quest, the various NPCs that appear in different locations on the map do not, so players won't be able to bump up their damage numbers by hunting down the likes of Dummy or Doggo.
