Fortnite is currently in Season 2 and has continued to add content to keep the game exciting. Throughout the duration of Season 2, Fortnite's storyline revolves around the Shadow and Ghost factions, which added NPC henchmen to the map. There have also been many collaborations in Season 2, including Deadpool and the TV show, Punk'd. It has been confirmed that Season 2 will be extended through summer and some dataminers have already begun to find possible future content.

According to dataminer FortTory, a new limited-time game mode could be coming to Fortnite soon. The game mode is titled "Arsenic" and seems to be similar to an infected game mode. Infected is a popular playlist on Call of Duty and Halo and has been created by users in many games. Infected mode makes players survive an onslaught of infected players, who usually have higher speed and jumping, and very limited health. Infected members usually are only able to melee and the game is played until every player has become infected.

The Fortnite leaked files list many abilities that would prove the game mode is "infected." Abilities like "Increased Movement Speed,' "Double Jump," and "Infected Landing" make it appear that Fortnite would be following the blueprint for a fun infected mode. There have been rumors about an infected mode in Fortnite since the start of Season 2. Now, with even more files hinting at the future game mode, it is only a matter of time before it is released.

Fortnite will possibly add the infected playlist to the "Save The World" mode based on various quotes gathered in the data files. The quotes reveal instructions for both survivors and infected, which could indicate that NPCs may be able to infect players. Not much is known about how the game mode will work aside from abilities, however, Fortnite has a very large map so the infected game mode could limit the player lobby, or possibly increase the speed of the circle.

The Fortnite community has voiced its frustration regarding the state of the game, however, Fortnite is known for responding to the community's requests and making positive changes.
