Fortnite has always been big on cross-promotion, and as an insanely popular online game, it has no shortage of partners to collaborate with. Now, a new possible crossover may have been teased: one between Fortnite and Nickelodeon's upcoming limited series, Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Given the long list of crossovers in Fortnite's busy history, it wouldn't be surprising if this were, in fact, one of the game's next big cross-promotions. Just this past year, the popular battle royale game featured crossover events with BatmanBorderlands, Marvel, and more, which means there's still plenty of time for other events this year.

Yesterday afternoon, Are You Afraid of the Dark? writer and executive producer BenDavid Grabinski posted a cryptic image, leading some to suspect an affiliation with Fortnite. At first glance, it looks like a design of the show's carnival (and captioned with the hashtag "#AreYouAfraidOfTheDark"), but the picture definitely isn't from the show, which is live-action. A couple of small details suggest something more; for one, a close look at the image's night sky show what appear to be several cracks in it. The setting's style is also extremely in line with Fortnite's, particularly when it comes to the shapes of the trees, which appear nearly identical to those in the game.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? is a horror anthology series that originally ran from 1992 through 2000, though Nickelodeon is resurrecting it for a short time this October as a miniseries. Of course, nothing is confirmed yet, but Are You Afraid of the Dark? is set to premiere soon on October 11. So if there is something going on between Nickelodeon and Epic Games, it shouldn't take too much longer to reveal in an official capacity.

This possible crossover event would be coming in the midst of Fortnite's Season 10 changes, including a new area of the Starry Suburbs and the aforementioned Batman crossover, which is currently live and will run until October 1. Perhaps a certain horror-themed event will begin after that? Those eager to find out if the Midnight Society is making its way to Fortnite will just have to stay tuned!

Fortnite is available to play now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
