Fortnite keeps innovating and surprising players with its numerous updates. Even though it is a free to play game, it also continuously offers different kinds of paid content for its most loyal fans. One of these contents is Fortnite Crew, a monthly subscription service in the popular Battle Royale title available to players around the world. This subscription offers an assortment of in-game items and rewards that change every month.

Launched in December 2020 during Chapter 2 Season 5, Fortnite Crew allows players to become members for $11.99 per month. Since then, fans who have purchased this subscription service have received a good amount of exclusive cosmetics along with various other offers. On the surface, this may not seem like overly flashy content, but for those die-hard devotees of the title or players who are new to Fortnite, the Fortnite Crew subscription could definitely be a tempting option.

Battle Pass, Crew Pack and 1,000 V-Bucks

Like many live-streaming platforms such as Netflix or Disney Plus, Fortnite will charge users a monthly fee for this membership. In exchange for the subscription, members will get cosmetics, V-Bucks and more. The price may seem high to some, but it is worth noting that Fortnite Crew items cost significantly more when purchased separately. This subscription offers players three unique rewards per month: full access to the Battle Pass, the Crew Pack and 1,000 V-Bucks.

The Crew Pack is by far the most exclusive item within this membership. It is an outfit pack that provides players with cosmetics that cannot be purchased anywhere else, in addition to at least one accessory to go with it, such as a glider, a pickaxe or an emote. Of course, Fortnite Crew also includes access to the Battle Pass. This means that buyers will also immediately unlock the first skin from that Battle Pass. However, it is best to take a look at the new Battle Pass skins before deciding whether to get hold of the subscription or not.

Fortnite Crew's Value and Low Commitment

Since December 2020, Fortnite Crew has introduced more than 20 new skins. These outfits and accessories include original concepts, Marvel and DC characters, and new versions of established Fortnite skins. But there is no cohesion or consistency among these outfits. The inaugural Fortnite Crew design was Galaxy, which for many remains the best. However, Snow Stealth Slone, Wolverine Zero, Loveless, Red Claw, and the Inkquisitor also stand out. These usually include a basic character outfit, an alternate style, a pickaxe, a back ornament, a wrap, a loading screen and, sometimes, bot lobbies.

While the cosmetic set, V-Bucks and Battle Pass have remained staples of the Fortnite Crew since its introduction in December 2020, Epic Games has occasionally included additional perks. In Chapter 2 of Season 7, for example, players could unlock the fully customizable Legacy Back Bling Protocol, which added a new style for each month they remained subscribed. Later, Epic added the Photonic Attack Peak as a bonus for subscribers. Other noticeable perks have been a free trial of Spotify Premium and some Fortnite Save the World bonuses. Quantifying these one-off offers is tricky, as they vary each month, but in any case, Epic publishes a list of content each month that users can consult to decide whether it is convenient for them to subscribe to this service.

Users can cancel the monthly subscription without any kind of commitment and will not lose the items obtained with Fortnite Crew. In addition, the player would not lose the V-Bucks earned with the subscription, nor the access to the Battle Pass until the end of the season and all progression in it. However, if a full refund of the Fortnite Crew subscription is requested, they will lose access to all Crew Pack cosmetics, Battle Pass and V-Bucks earned with the Fortnite subscription. If they decide to restart the subscription later, they will receive V-Bucks and Crew Pack Outfits back again.

The Value of Fortnite Crew

The current offerings of Fortnite Crew are very cost-effective, all things collected. Fortnite Crew is worth investing in for those who enjoy collecting skins or for those who are just getting started in the game. Just for the value represented by the free V-Bucks and the Battle Pass alone, it is worth considering. For example, the Battle Pass (950 V-Bucks/$9.50 USD) plus the 1,000 V-Bucks ($7.99 USD) would normally cost $17.49.

This is all without taking into account the Crew Pack, which could range from 1,200 to 2,400 V-Bucks in value, which would cost between $12 and $24. It is in Epic Games' best interest to reserve some of its best skins for Fortnite Crew packs to keep subscribers on the service, so fans are bound to get their money's worth. Fortnite Crew can provide Legendary quality skins that come with a full set of matching accessories. In addition, Fortnite Crew Pack skins have an aura of exclusivity, as these skins are much rarer than those in the Battle Pass or Item Shop.

All in all, for any Fortnite fan who plays daily and wants to get their hands on all the items from the store and complete the Fortnite Battle Pass, the Fortnite Crew subscription is a very good option, without any doubt. Even if fans decide Fortnite Crew is not for them, it's easy to cancel and re-subscribe when the content becomes more interesting. Players don't have to fork over cash to get a complete Fortnite experience, but Fortnite Crew can definitely enhance the games for cosmetic lovers.

Fortnite is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
