Fortnite has revealed details about its Fortnite Crew Pack for the month of May. The upcoming batch of content will include the usual elements - a new skin, matching accessories, and the monthly V-Buck allowance. However, Fortnite is offering subscribers something they never have before: permanent access to the Save the World mode.

Introduced at the beginning of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5, Fortnite Crew is a paid monthly subscription service, offering exclusive sets of cosmetics and the current season's Battle Pass. Additionally, the $12 a month service gives players 1,000 V-Bucks to spend on other cosmetics in the game's item shop.

Detailed in a blog post on developer Epic Games' website, the Fortnite Crew Pack for May 2021 features a "skeletal soul-snatcher" named Deimos. The skull-masked character comes with a trove of cosmetics from the Neo Underworld Set, including the Sorrow’s Edge Back Bling, the Sorrow’s Reach Pickaxe, the "soul-comprised" Doomed Echo Wrap, and the Deimos Skull Stalker Loading Screen. Deimos and his accompanying content are unique for a few reasons. The first is that all of the cosmetics come in both black-and-red and black-and-green styles, and the second is that Deimos is a new Ninja-class Hero in Fortnite's Save the World mode, something subscribers will have permanent access to starting May 2021.

The full, permanent access to Fortnite's lesser-known PvE mode comes as another supplemental offering from the subscription service. Following a series of surveys from its player base due to waning interest, the battle royale title has begun offering extra perks to subscribers beyond in-game cosmetics and currency. Last month players were offered three free months of Spotify Premium. Unlike the game's battle royale, Save the World isn't a free-to-play mode. While last months freebie ended up being $30 in value, Save the World retails for $40, giving gamers quite the bargain for the $12 monthly subscription fee.

Deimos' appearance also potentially confirms an ongoing theory about future Fortnite Crew skins. The theory is that each of the previous Crew Packs appear to follow the same themes as Chapter 1's Battle Passes, starting with the skins from Season 3. For example, January's Green Arrow coincided with Season 4's hero theme, and April's Alli was believed to be an alternate version of Lynx. When looking at Season 8's skins and Deimos, the latter's skull mask looks eerily similar to the Hybrid skin's stages three and four. Also given the fact that Hybrid unmistakably looks like a ninja and Deimos is a Ninja-class Hero, the evidence really starts to pile up.

The continued add-ons to Fortnite Crew should likely entice more than a few avid players to spring for the service. However, its not the only surprising thing happening with the game. The clock in Boney Burbs has begun ticking, causing speculations to run wild about what it could mean for the location or even the map as a whole.

Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
