Having over 200 million registered players, Fortnite has established itself as not only one of the most popular games right now, but also of all time. The multiplayer sandbox survival shooter is generally known as a title that has the capacity to let players do almost anything, and now it appears as if that concept is being taken up a notch, with Epic Games revealing today that it will be giving players the ability to create games themselves.

Even though Playground mode has been available for a while now, its features such as quick-farming and high loot yields are limited to a single map. Although this map does change in some form every season, it remains relatively the same throughout. However, with early access for Fortnite Creative beginning tomorrow, players will now have the ability to create their own maps and modes. Early access can be attained through purchase of Season 7's Battle Pass, but players can also wait for its official launch on December 13.

As usual, only four players can enter the Fortnite Creative mode together, but once in the game, they will then be able to invite up to 12 other players (with up to 16 players in total). After having entered a Creative mode server, the original four players will each be given four islands in which they can create and build at their leisure, while also having the ability to quickly travel to another player's island by way of a rift.

What's more is that players can build practically whatever they desire, and will be able to place devices, consumables, chests, and preexisting buildings almost anywhere they want. Fortnite Creative also lets players choose the type of game mode, health and ammo options, general world options, and more.

Fortnite Creative is just another example of how Epic Games continues to provide regular updates and additions to the game that ultimately assists in growing the title's already massive popularity. Without a doubt, these practices have helped to establish a new standard for future developers to follow, as colossal updates like this one will likely influence other studios to reevaluate its approach to the lifespan of any given game, which ought to be seen as good news for gamers and for the industry as a whole.

Fortnite is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
