Fortnite is known for its new and interesting skins. Players love to collect the newest skins to show off, including the new Ninja skin that changes as players play Fortnite while wearing it. This weekend, players will be able to complete for an exclusive, competition-only skin that has fans ready to battle it out, royale-style.

The Smash Cup

Known for its unique in-game events, Fortnite has done just about everything, from pairing NFL stars and pro streamers. But players have never competed for in-game items like this before.

The Summer Smash Cup is a one-weekend only event, pitting Fortnite players against one another in a bid to get exclusive gear. Placing well in the Smash Cup, which takes place February 1-2, 2020 between 7 and 10PM AEDT, will get players limited release pickaxes and other items. The Summer Smash Cup was part of the 2.54 update for Fortnite.

The Rewards

Each player will be placed in 10 random matches against other competitors, and players will grab exclusive items for surviving longer than their fellows. Everyone who participates will go home with three Smash Cup sprays, but players who do well will get even more loot. The top 50 percent of players get a weapon wrap. The top 25 percent of players get a pickaxe that won't be seen anywhere else, and the top 10% will walk away with the exclusive skin.

This skin will be limited to this event. Unlike the other unique skins, like the Super Ball Sunday football skins, there are no hints of whether this skin will become available outside of this contest.

Here's a picture of what the skin will look like:

Play At Own Risk

Players must be on an Oceania or Asia server and be level 15 or higher to participate. If they aren't already on one of those servers, players can manually change their servers in the Fortnite settings menu. That being said, switching the server may create a lot of lag because of the physical distance. While players may not be able to place well in the Summer Smash Cup with all that lag, they will at least get those free sprays given out to everyone who plays. Perhaps one day, this limited edition skin will be available to more areas; it could happen with the upcoming Chapter 2 Season 2 updates.

Fortnite is available for PlayStation 4, Android, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, iOS, Microsoft Windows, and Macintosh operating systems.
