On July 12, 2022, Epic Games dropped a hotfix patch for its popular battle royale game, Fortnite. One of the biggest additions to come with update V21.20 is the unvaulting of a classic Fortnite weapon, the Combat Assault Rifle.

The fast-shooting Assault Rifle was first introduced in Fortnite way back in Chapter 2, Season 8 and then appeared for a few days in Chapter 3, Season 2, due to fan votes. And now, the weapon is back, at least for the time being. However, it's worth noting that the Combat AR is unavailable in competitive modes.

Where to Find the Combat AR in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3

A landscape of Fortnite's map

For Fortnite players wondering how to get their hands on the unvaulted Combat Assault Rifle, it's done the same way as most other weapons in the game. The AR can be found inside chests and on the ground as floor loot.

Players also have a chance at finding one as part of a Supply Drop or by using a Fishing Hole.

As far as where exactly players should look for the AR, it's best to check out the points of interest with lots of loot and chests. Here's a list of some of the best landing spots in Season 3:

Landing Spots for Loot

  • Tilted Towers
  • Rave Cave
  • The Daily Bugle
  • Greasy Grove
  • Reality Falls

Combat Assault Rifle Stats and Tips

As far as damage goes, the Combat Assault Rifle in Fortnite can dish out about 19 to 23 damage per bullet (171 - 207 damage per second) and has a headshot multiplier of 1.5x.

  • The Reload Time for Common rarity AR is 3.4 seconds, and 2.8 seconds for Legendary rarity.
  • The weapon has First Shot Accuracy, which guarantees the first shot is 100% accurate if players aren't moving while shooting.
  • Since the weapon has heavy recoil, try shooting in bursts to keep control of where players are aiming.

In other Fortnite news, players can now head into the Item Shop to purchase the Gods of Thunder Pack. The cosmetic bundle includes Thor Odinson and Mighty Thor from the latest MCU film, Thor: Love and Thunder. Both skins also have their respective weapons from the film, the Stormbreaker and Mjolnir.

Fortnite is currently free-to-play on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
