Fortnite season 7 is finally here, and players can now dive into the new alien-themed battle pass. Of course, like every Fortnite season, there are new quests for players to complete for extra XP. One of these quests requires players to collect three different IO tech weapons, and by following this short guide, players can find all three weapons in a short amount of time.
The three Fortnite IO tech weapons players need to get their hands on are the Rail Gun, Recon Scanner, and the Pulse Rifle. However, they can only be found at specific locations.
How to Collect Different IO Tech Weapons (Rail Gun, Recon Scanner, Pulse Rifle)
Something new for the Fortnite map, there are multiple IO bases scattered for players to check out. These bases can be easily spotted once players are above the map in the battle bus. All of the IO bases have a glowing red light on a satellite dish, and each one has lots of rare loot for Fortnite players to collect. These bases are where players can find the IO tech weapons, but the weapon that players can find there is randomized, meaning that there's no guarantee that a certain IO weapon will appear.
Players will need to search the IO base for a particular box typically home to one of the three IO tech weapons. If players look at the image below, they'll see how the box looks. There tend to be at least one of these boxes at every base, and players will need to run around the building until it's found. It sounds easier than it actually is because there are multiple NPC IO guards at every base, and they will attack players upon entry.
There are also security cameras to be on the lookout for that can be destroyed, and, of course, there might be other players looking for these tech weapons to complete the quest themselves. It's best to come prepared before heading over to any of these bases on the map; otherwise, it'll be challenging to find the chest without getting killed.
It's worth noting that sometimes the IO tech weapons will pop out of a normal glowing chest, but it needs to be the chests that are in the IO facility. So far, it seems that the Recon Scanner is the most common weapon out of the three, and the Rail Gun is the rarest due to its powerful laser beam. Players will need to keep searching different IO bases around the map until all three Fortnite weapons are found. It can be difficult to reach multiple bases in a single match due to how far they are from one another, but players can always try in the next match as the challenge progress carries over.
