While the addition of Jetpacks within the free-to-play Battle Royale portion of Fortnite has been somewhat of a contentious subject within the popular multiplayer sandbox survival title's community, Epic Games has made sure to state that it is only going to be available for a limited time. Speaking of Jetpacks, the Limited Time Mode that was designed as a way for players to get used to the item, Close Encounters, has been temporarily disabled shortly after its introduction.

As seen in the tweet below from the official Fortnite Twitter account, Epic Games stated that it found an "issue" within Close Encounters, so it needed to be disabled in order for the company to investigate and rectify the problem. In order to satiate those hoping to try out the shotguns and Jetpacks-centric mode, the developer has decided to reinstate the fan-favorite Solid Gold mode for the time being.

It's currently unclear as to what exactly has caused the issue in Fortnite's Close Encounters mode, and why it has been disabled so quickly after Epic Games decided to push it out as a live Limited Time Mode. However, players in the game's official subreddit have been reporting problems such as the wrong types of ammo spawning on the ground in the mode, as well as the solo queue option disappearing for some, while the squad option has vanished for others.

At the moment, there's no telling when Close Encounters will come back online, but it's interesting to note that this isn't the first instance of Epic Games having to push back content related to Jetpacks in Fortnite. After all, the item initially received a lengthy delay after it was announced to be coming to the game back in March, and it took the studio roughly a couple of months to roll out the object. Hopefully, the postponement of Close Encounters won't be as prolonged.

Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
