Yesterday, Epic Games introduced the Clinger Grenade to Fortnite Battle Royale, with most gamers believing it would only be a matter of time before the sticky grenade was used in some outlandish way to land kills. This belief manifested in a way that, while wildly entertaining, is also incredibly dangerous for the user of the grenade.

As depicted below, a Clinger grenade can be attached to an ally to create a suicide charge of sorts, though no actual death will result for the ally. If any Fortnite players aren’t using this method yet, they may very well be soon, as this adds an explosive element to close quarters combat in this game. In other words, players should keep an eye out for suicide bombers.

The aforementioned method of using the Clinger Grenade is almost as entertaining as when popular streamer Ninja got a kill with the Port-a-Fort. However, using the Clinger Grenade can backfire on the user because while allies are safe from the explosive damage, the user of the grenade is not. Notably, the grenade does 100 damage, so it doesn’t guarantee a kill against a player with a shield.

Nevertheless, it is a dangerous method as seen below. Players who choose to use this grenade will have to make sure that stuck enemies do not get close to them or risk death by their own grenade. This could be a problem for some players who either do not realize the closing proximity of the kamikaze enemy or simply forget about the friendly fire damage.

The Clinger Grenade joins recent weapons added over the past few weeks such as the Guided Missile Launcher, Port-a-Fort, and Light Machine Gun. Only time will tell when or if the grenade or any of the aforementioned weapons will be rotated out, but it doesn’t seem likely to be soon since it was just added yesterday. Until then, Fortnite players need to be careful this precarious weapon doesn’t backfire on them.

Fortnite Battle Royale is free to play on Mobile, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
