The Season 7 Week 6 challenges are now live in Fortnite's battle royale mode, and they include a throwback to some previous challenges in the game. In the past, Fortnite players have found themselves hunting down a variety of gnomes, and in Season 7 Week 6, they will have to find at least seven of them on the battle royale map.

As their name implies, Chilly Gnomes can be found in the winter biome, which dominates the southwest portion of the map. At the time of writing, it's unclear if they spawn somewhat randomly or if they are found in fixed locations, but there are some key areas players may want to check. Named locations like Happy Hamlet and Polar Peak are a good bet, and it's also worth pointing out that all of the Chilly Gnomes appear to spawn outside.

When players are near a Chilly Gnome, they will hear it shivering. After hearing this, players just need to follow the sound until they find a gnome encased in an ice cube. These gnomes can be on their side or standing straight up, so players will want to check the area thoroughly so they don't miss any.

fortnite where to find chilly gnomes

Upon locating a gnome, players simply need to walk up to it and "search" it like they would a treasure chest. It's somewhat similar to finding waterside goose nests and things of that nature.

As previously stated, Fortnite players have had to hunt down hidden gnomes in the past, so those who have been playing awhile should know what to expect from the Chilly Gnomes challenge. Gnomes in general seem to be a big part of the Fortnite lore, and we've even seen Epic Games add its own Grimbles skin to the game that's clearly based on the appearance of the gnomes found on the battle royale map.

Whether or not gnomes play a larger role in Fortnite's story remains to be seen. Current storylines deal with a strange rock creature that appears to be moving slowly across the map, as well as dragon eggs that some think will hatch into full-fledged dragons at some point in the near future. In the meantime, Fortnite fans can focus on the Season 7 Week 6 challenges while they wait for more story developments and map changes to take place.

Fortnite is out now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
