[UPDATE: Epic Games has now officially added the Chiller Grenade to Fortnite, and here's how it works. The original story continues below.]

Not too long ago, Epic Games decided to continue the wintry theme of Fortnite Battle Royale's Season 7 by introducing a new Sneaky Snowman item, which allows players to move around the currently snow-strewn map and hide in plain sight. Now, it looks as if the developer will be bringing another ice-based object for fans to use in the free-to-play shooter, with the company set to add what it's calling a Chiller Grenade.

According to Fortnite Battle Royale's in-game news feed, the Chiller Grenade is set to arrive soon, and its description states that players who wield it will have the capacity to "Give [their] enemies cold feet with this winter blast". Bearing this in mind, it seems as if the weapon won't necessarily inflict any actual damage on opponents, but will freeze them in place instead so as to let one blast them with one of the title's myriad guns.

For the uninitiated, it looks like the Chiller Grenade will operate in a somewhat similar manner to Fortnite Battle Royale's Boogie Bomb, as both aim give the one who threw the grenade an advantage of shooting an opponent while they're incapacitated. However, while the latter lets those affected move while not being able to shoot, there's a possibility that the former will let anyone frozen in place still use their weapons.

All things considered, it's great to see Epic Games continually adding more content to Fortnite Battle Royale in order to keep its player base engaged with the title for the foreseeable future, as the addition of the Chiller Grenade should at the very least offer players an additional layer of strategy in-game. Until the icy grenade's addition, though, there's still plenty other stuff to do in the title, especially for those who have yet to complete Season 7 Week 8's challenges.

Fortnite is available now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
