Vaults have been introduced and reintroduced to Fortnite a few times now, and they always seem to work slightly differently than the last time. Before Chapter 4 Season 2 started, players could open Cold-Blooded vaults during the Most Wanted Event, but once the event ended, the vaults were removed from the game.

It is unknown if they will be part of this season's lore, but it seems that Cold Blooded enemies are back on the map, and they're protecting their luxurious vaults once again. This guide will show players exactly where to go to find vaults in Fortnite.

Chapter 4 Season 2 Vault Locations

There are three vault locations on the Chapter 4 Season 2 map. Two of them are still in the same spot they were last season during the Most Wanted Event, but since a significant part of the map was drastically modified to fit this season's futuristic theme, one of the vaults had to be moved to a different location.

Players can find a vault in Brustal Bastion, on the northern part of the corridor that's left of the bounty board; in Mega City, below the parking garage that's located on the northeastern corner of the POI; and, lastly, at Shattered Slabs, inside the mining area that's right by the capture point.

How To Open Vaults

A short while after the first storm circle has closed, the Highcard marker will appear in these locations displaying players nearby where they can find this NPC. Highcard is a Cold-Blooded boss who always spawns with Cold-Blooded henchmen nearby.

To open the vault, gamers need a keycard which can only be obtained after eliminating Highcard. The player doesn't have to take down the henchmen, but they will all become hostile and attack the player as soon as they hit their boss.

Once Highcard has been knocked out and eliminated, he'll drop the vault keycard. The player will have to sacrifice an inventory space if they'd like to take the card with them. Thankfully, the loot inside the vault is great, so it's likely that players will find whatever they've dropped inside.

When selecting the keycard in one's inventory, it'll place a holographic trail that leads to the vault's entrance, so players don't waste too much time looking for it if they don't remember where to go. They must then swipe the keycard on the terminal beside the vault's door, and only a few seconds later, the door will open.

Fortnite is available on mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
