Fortnite Chapter 3 is officially underway. A much more significant turnover than another season, Fortnite Chapter 3 introduces an expansive array of all-new content for players to discover. One piece of the new content comes in the form of the new Tent item, which boasts multiple functionalities, although its uses aren't clearly explained in-game.

Epic Games' enduringly popular free-to-play battle royale title ended its previous season with the highly anticipated Chapter 2 finale event. Titled "The End," the event saw the return of The Foundation which, as many had thought, was revealed to be Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The cinematic sequence ended with the entire Fortnite island flipping over, revealing an all-new map.

How to Use Tents in Fortnite

While the majority of Fortnite Chapter 3's many new items are easy to understand and master, Tents are a bit trickier to taking full advantage of. Tents can be obtained by finding them as an equippable item or by claiming one of the many deserted ones around the island. Once thrown down and assembled, players can then enter the tent to rest in it and restore their health. Tents dually serve as an extra space for item storage, with two item slots automatically available. Players can get a third item slot for their tent as well, although it requires Gold Bars.

The healing and item storage during a match certainly makes the Tent a valuable new item, but their functionality doesn't stop there. When playing in Duos, Trios, or Squads, other teammates can interact with a Tent to purchase their own. If players suddenly need to abandon their Tent, they can access their stashed items simply by finding a new one. Arguably the most game-changing aspect about Fortnite's Tents is its item storage capability works beyond a single match. Players can reclaim their items in future matches by finding another Tent, giving them an edge to secure a Victory Crown.

Beyond Fortnite's Tent and its variety of other new items, the game has also introduced a much-requested feature for Chapter 3. A new sliding mechanic has been added to the game, altering Fortnite's meta forever. Players that hold down on the crouch button while running will dive into a slide, which is especially helpful for getting downhill quickly. Using the slide manuever doen't inhibit players ability to build or fire weapons, meaning more elusiveness and strategic possibilities than ever before.

Fortnite's Tents are certainly a boon for avid players, and is just one of many new items to discover in Chapter 3. While there are many new things for players to discover, some fans think an iconic fan-favorite location is hidden in plain sight.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
