Fortnite Chapter 2 recently entered its 8th season. Just like in previous seasons, Fortnite's latest is promising a battle pass filled with fresh challenges and new skins, including Marvel's Carnage and original characters like the Toona Fish.

One of Fortnite's more interesting additions is the Cubed event. It reframes the loot cube as a source of corruption, and tasks Fortnite players with fighting monsters in an alternate dimension called the Sideways. This seems to be a key part of Chapter 2's developing storyline.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8's End Date

According to the official site for the game, it seems that Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 ends on December 5th. There are about 11 weeks to go until the game rolls over to Chapter 2 Season 9.

This may seem like plenty of time to play, but Season 8 presents a lot of different objectives, from investigating dimensional rifts, to collecting bananas, to fighting off Fortnite's IO guards. Unless the player is willing to keep their heads to the grindstone, hoping that they're always able to find the right areas before The Storm blocks them off, it's unlikely they'll reach the end of their Battle Pass.

That being said, the developers might make it easier to cover more distance on the map. While vehicles, ziplines, and other forms of travel exist, there are rumors that Fortnite will soon get a new sliding movement option. This could make movement without specialized equipment faster, thus freeing up time for players to complete their Battle Pass challenges.

How Fortnite Players Should Approach The New Season

Players should set their goals ahead of time, looking for a specific skin or item they want, such as Fortnite's new Carnage skin and Venom mythic weapon, and saving all their battle pass earned V-bucks for that one reward. If they can unlock that specific goal some other way, then the saved v-bucks can go to a second choice of reward.

Seasonal time limits tend to encourage a sense of FOMO, or fear of missing out, and that can momentarily take the fun out of a game, or encourage impulsively spending real-world money. Honing in on a specific goal is a good way of avoiding this, keeping the play session enjoyable and low stakes.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
