Fortnite finally saw it’s massive Joyride update earlier today for players to jump into. While the Fortnite cars update was delayed for a bit at the end of July, the update is here and changes quite a bit.

The Joyride update for Fortnite adds a variety of different cars for players to find and hop into around the map. Players can also listen to four different radio stations whenever they get into a car in-game.

Car Controls and the Radio

Epic Games confirmed that Fortnite was getting cars this week just days before the actual Joyride update released for players. As many players know, the Joyride update centers on adding realistic cars to the Fortnite map, so players can hop into any car around the map very easily. Whenever a player goes near a car during a match, the corresponding button prompts will display visually on screen.

Thankfully, finding and driving cars in Fortnite is just as easy, as they are spread around the map very consistently. Once a player enters a cars, the car controls will pop up on the left side of the screen in their entirety. The cars in Fortnite also have four different radio stations that players can switch between. To switch radio stations, simply press X on PS4, A on Xbox One, or B on Switch.

The Joyride Update

There are a variety of different styles and cars for players to find around the map, including sports cars, pickup trucks, and 18 wheelers. As most players know, the Fortnite map was updated to drop the water levels even further and bring back popular locations like the Weeping Woods. Obviously, this is going to make driving cars around the map much easier as players won’t have to worry about driving into water. Additionally, the cars scattered around the map are plentiful, so players shouldn’t have to worry about going long stretches of time without running into a car.

The Joyride update is a nice little update for the game, while not drastically changing the foundation of Fortnite’s gameplay. Unfortunately, it seems like the Joyride update may not be the update that will get more streamers back to playing the game. Fortnite seems to be somewhat dropping off on live streaming platforms as streamers are ditching Fortnite for Warzone and other battle royale games. Still, the Joyride update provides plenty of new content for players to experience.

Fortnite is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are currently in development.
