Earlier this year, Epic Games added the Bouncer Trap to Fortnite, letting players bounce themselves, teammates, or enemies far distances. Used for a variety of trick shots in Playground Mode and the like, the Bouncer Traps have proven to be a fairly popular item in the battle royale game, but they were removed in a recent update. For those wondering why Bouncer Traps were removed from the game, Epic has finally revealed why.

Responding to a fan on Twitter, Epic Games community coordinator Sean Hamilton revealed that the Bouncer Traps were removed from Fortnite due to the "influx of recent mobility items" that have been added to the game. These mobility items include things like the Shockwave Grenades, the Grappler, and Rift-to-Gos, all of which provide players with unique ways to get across the battle royale map as fast as possible.

While some fans may still be disappointed that Bouncer Traps have been removed from Fortnite, that doesn't mean that they will be gone forever. As Hamilton points out in his tweet, any Fortnite item that is "vaulted" can be added back to the game at some point, which is something we've seen with other items in the past, like the guided missile, for instance.

In some cases, we see items added and removed from the vault multiple times. The aforementioned guided missile meets that description, as does some other items in the game, like the remote explosives, for instance. Whether or not the Bouncer Traps meet the same fate remains to be seen, but we'll find out in the coming months.

In the meantime, it will be interesting to see what Hamilton means by future mobility items. It's possible that jetpacks could be added to the game again, or Epic may have a completely brand new mobility item it's working on. Whatever the case may be, fans can rest assured that any new mobility item will be scrutinized just as much as any of the other weapons or items that are in Fortnite's battle royale mode.

Fortnite is out now in early access for iOS, Android, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
