The next Star Wars crossover in Fortnite was announced over a month ago but it appears that it's finally about to come to fruition. Previously teased as coming sometime in December, Boba Fett will arrive in the battle royale on December 24.

When Boba Fett does arrive in Fortnite on Christmas Eve he will be just the latest Star Wars bounty hunter to get the crossover treatment. Season 5 of the game saw several other characters from that franchise including The Mandalorian and his young Jedi charge, the creature lovingly known as Baby Yoda.

The timing of Boba Fett landing on Fortnite's island is hardly a coincidence. Much like several of the other crossovers that have joined the game over the years, the addition serves a couple of different purposes. There is, of course, the ability to add the skin of one of the most popular characters in the Star Wars universe to a player's catalog. There's also the ability to promote the character just ahead of the launch of his own Disney Plus series.

0-20-1

The Book of Boba Fett series will officially launch on the streaming service just a few days (December 29) after the character makes his way into Fortnite. It seems as though the show can serve as a kind of marketing tool for the crossover in the game and vice versa.

The real question might just be what's going to come along with the new Boba Fett skin, either on Christmas Eve or shortly after. In the official announcement of the crossover, there were some hints that quite a bit more than just the skin would be included. The promotional image also showed Fennec Shand sitting to the left of the famed bounty hunter.

It is possible that her inclusion was simply because both characters' poses were reminiscent of The Book of Boba Fett's teaser image. However, in the Fortnite image, Shand is holding something that looks an awful lot like it could be an emote that flashes the symbol of a Mythosaur. It does also appear that the new skin or skins could come along with a Tusken Raider's Gaffi Stick harvesting tool.

When Boba Fett and whatever's coming with him does arrive, it will be interesting to see if he hits the same level of popularity as when The Mandalorian joined the game. His inclusion in Fortnite even renewed calls for the character to get his own Mandalorian video game.

Fortnite is available right now for Android, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
