Fortnite has become a major name in gaming, having collaborated with many brands, IPs, and pop culture icons over the last few years. Some of the characters that have been licensed out so that they could appear in the free-to-play title includes heroes and villains from the multimedia empire, Star Wars. These Fortnite skins include Kylo Ren, the imperial Stormtrooper, and the Mandalorian. The latest addition to game, which comes just in time for the holidays, is the iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett.
Boba Fett was introduced in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, and he has been a mainstay of the franchise ever since. Many of his traits have made him an iconic member of the cast, with his bounty hunter career, his mysterious past, and his incredibly well-designed armor standing out. This has helped inspire other similar characters in gaming, from Capcom's Mega Man X antagonist Vile to Samus Aran from Nintendo's Metroid series.
With Boba Fett being such a popular character, it is not too surprising that this skin serves a double purpose. Boba Fett joining Fortnite is likely tied to the upcoming Disney Plus series Book of Boba Fett. While it is true that his arrival comes just in time for the Holiday season, it also comes to the game just a few days ahead of the show's December 29 premiere. As such, Boba Fett's appearance as a skin in Fortnite is heavily based on the upcoming show.
This Boba Fett Fortnite skin has him decked out in his distinctive Mandalorian armor, complete with a backpack bling based on his jetpack. Players will also be able to earn accessories based on his many adventures, like a pickaxe that is modeled off of the ones used by the Tusken Raiders on Tatooine, or even a glider based on Boba Fett's starship. The final accessory is an emote that players can use, "Targeting Computer Online," where the player's character scans the horizon of the game to help track down a target.
While all of these items are available separately, they can also be purchased in a bundle within Fortnite's in-game store. Considering that Epic Games tends to cycle out the characters available in the shop every few days, those interested in the bounty hunter will likely only have a limited amount of time to purchase this bundle. As such, players should jump in now if they want a chance to get Boba Gett, as it could be a while before he makes another appearance in the shop.
