Fortnite continues to be one of the best ongoing gaming experiences, with constant updates to the meta and the costumes that players can wear. With the newest Fortnite Chapter, the meta once again changes, with the brand-new map bringing brand-new locations and guns along with it. Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 features a bunch of new weapons and items, but only some can be the best.

For players to seek that Victory Royale against 99 other players, they should understand Fortnite’s best weapons for Chapter 4 Season 1, and bring their A-game to every battle bus drop to continue that Dub streak. The weapons in Fortnite’s 4th Chapter are unique and require great skill and speed.

10 SCAR Assault Rifle

In the original Fortnite map for its first chapter, the SCAR was a lethal weapon. It could only be found at Rare and Legendary rarity, and was a force to be reckoned with. When the SCAR returned as a common drop, many expected the weapon to be a machine in the Battle Royale, but it is far from it.

The SCAR has its uses, and shouldn’t be abandoned, as it’s the default assault rifle. However, the range, recoil, and fire rate are far obsolete compared to other medium-range guns, and the SCAR is a glorified SMG.

9 Rocket Launcher

Explosives can sometimes be the bane of any Battle Royale. With a large spread and intense damage, explosives have the power and the punch to send players back to the lobby. The Rocket Launcher is no exception and can be played in multiple ways to ensure the other team is eradicated in an explosion.

It’s a good weapon to have in squads or Build Mode, as the Rocket Launcher can take out structures like nobody's business. However, the fact that the rockets fire so slowly means that players will be waiting a while unless they shoot it at their own feet.

8 Primal Flame Bow

Bows can be a great tactical weapon. On top of looking cool, they require a great sense of accuracy and skill. Ammo is limited, and for good reason, as each bullet can deal some devastating damage. A headshot with a charged bow is almost powerful enough to one-shot a player, and if that’s paired with the Primal Flame Bow, things will get fiery.

Not only is the Primal Flame Bow good for shooting enemies, but the fire effect means that areas that are shot can burn. Players can take out bushes, structures, and all sorts thanks to the fire damage, and with a quick shot.

7 Ex-Caliber Rifle

One of the newer and more difficult-to-use weapons in Fortnite Chapter 4 is the Ex-Caliber Rifle. This gun is as ridiculous as it seems, and is perfectly suited for Fortnite. The Ex-Caliber Rifle shoots swords. Not normal swords, but ones that explode after being shot. They may not be effective at taking out structures, but players are another story.

Using the Ex-Caliber Rifle requires patience and precision, as the gun has quite a lot of drop-off range. However, shooting a player with this sword gun will embed them, causing damage, and then further damage after it explodes. It’s like the sticky bomb sniper, but stronger.

6 Chug Splash

Perhaps the best item to have in one’s inventory is a stack of 6 Chug Splashes. These are the quickest and most versatile ways to get both health and shield, as each hit will net the player and their allies 20 health or shield. Chug Splashes can be found rather easily, especially with the correct Fortnite Augment equipped.

Many fights can be changed if the player quickly throws Chug Splashes at themselves to heal up and continue the fight. This ensures that the Victory Royale is well in reach of those who prioritize their health over their thirst for kills.

5 Tactical Pistol

The Tactical Pistol may not require the skill of the original pistol, which relied on a strong trigger finger for a heavy rate of fire, but that does not mean the Tactical Pistol is useless. It is perhaps the easiest the pistol has been, as it is completely automatic and allows players to shoot with rapid speed.

The drawbacks come from the limited recoil, but the power and speed of the gun more than makeup for it. The Tactical Pistol is a great weapon that uses Light bullets, and should not be left sidelined just because it’s a pistol.

4 Thunder Shotgun

The shotguns in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 don’t feel as strong or as fast as previous entries into the game’s five-year history. Plenty of Fortnite Seasons have seen a range of shotguns, from good, to bad, to beyond overpowered. The Thunder Shotgun fits comfortably in the medium range, with decent damage and a slow rate of fire.

The Thunder Shotgun truly brings the thunder, as a close-range headshot can be devastating. However, the limited rate of fire means that it’s quicker to shoot this gun once and then trade to a faster weapon. Otherwise, players will be stuck trying to pull off a heavy hit again.

3 Shockwave Hammer

The best weapon for movability is by far the Shockwave Hammer. It takes the elements of the Shockwave Grenade and enhances them, as this weapon can be used to make players bounce around the map at intense speeds and heights. They’re great for getting away or chasing.

The Shockwave Hammer isn’t just great for traveling around the map to run or hunt from players. Each hit with the Shockwave Hammer will send players flying backward, with a damage cap of 75. It can knock players into the storm or just get them away.

2 DMR

With snipers currently gone from the beginning of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, players are desperate to find long-range weaponry that can be effective with a scope. Luckily, the DMR is back, and it has never been more essential. The DMR has great range and rate of fire, and only has a slight kick to the recoil.

Headshots are a game changer with the DMR, and other players will truly feel the punch of each bullet as they get shot. An entire firing squad of DMRs is deadly, so players should watch out for the high ground, and those that want the Dub.

1 Twin Mag SMG

The Twin Mag SMG cannot have its rate of fire understated. Full shield, no problem, the Twin Mag SMG will annihilate anyone who stands before the player. The only fault of this weapon is the fact that players will have to stand relatively close, as the recoil can be too intense to count. And at long range, it’s practically useless.

However, with such intense speeds, the Twin Mag SMG can easily outshoot a shotgun, depending on if the player is hitting their target, and aiming for the head. It’s a great weapon, and surely a tease of the ever-changing Fortnite meta.

Fortnite is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
